Shalom family ❤️
Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the steps you need to take to improve, grow, or change for the better? I know I have. I find myself faced with this feeling a lot because to whom much is given, much is required (Luke 12:48). Many people give up on their purpose because of various reasons; fear of failing, fear of success, lack of support, lack of knowledge or resources, lack of confidence or commitment - the list goes on. And even as I'm working on the website and all the back-end stuff to launch a new online club for positivity and growth called Head Up! Shoulders Back!, I too face the chatter in my head and fiery darts of doubt the enemy throws to try and overwhelm me from seeing it through. I uploaded a video recently sharing about the purpose of the club, feel free to watch it here.
But I'm not here to complain or give up. I'm here to share with you how I overcome the negative emotions and keep moving forward. Yes, this is in real time, so you know that even someone as motivated and driven as me goes through it too. Here are three things I did to help me conquer the negativity the other day:
I kept moving. I didn't let the emotions make me stagnant and unmotivated, where I wasted a full day and allowed them to take me out of the game, so to speak. I got in the shower, I got dressed, I made breakfast, I continued the day as if I was going to have a successful day no matter how I was feeling. By moving and not staying in bed and calling it a wrap, I helped freeze the looming dark cloud that was waiting for me to fall into the trap!
I countered the lies. Every time I heard a lie that said it's too hard, you can't figure certain things out, how do you know it's going to be successful, etc., I immediately countered it out loud with "That's not true!" and began to speak whatever scripture came to mind. For example, I said "I can do all things through Messiah who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13, TS2009) or "For Elohim has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7, TS2009). By speaking the truth, I silenced the voice of the enemy and reminded myself of the promises of Yah.
I counted my blessings. I turned on my Spotify praise playlist (anything west coast gets me in a good mood and reminds me of my Cali days), grabbed my wall calendar, and on the back where there's blank clean cardboard, I pulled out my pen and started counting alllllll of the blessings I've encountered and experienced since returning home to Portland. As I numbered them, I got to 50 blessings. When you do this exercise, remember everything is significant and there’s nothing too small to list. I remembered blessings as small as getting a discount on our internet and being given a free latte at my favorite coffee shop, to bigger things like my brother dropping over a G to welcome me home, getting a new phone which I desperately needed and my mom furnishing our new place and treating me to 5-star restaurants. And just recently, having a couple of supporters of this ministry bless me so I could upgrade some audio equipment (shouting out Jeremy and Jean for that blessing!). By the time I was done writing, the music had lifted my mood and being reminded of all the favor and love had me feeling better!
So that's how I fight negativity and dark thoughts and limiting beliefs. It's not easy to do when you're tired or have little motivation, but if you don't fight, you lose. And when you lose, you prevent yourself from doing what you were called to do by the Most High Himself. And there are people counting on you to bring the light, to show up in the world, and to do what only Yah has created you to do. Like I said, there are more ways to fight, but those were the three I used recently, and I survived to share my story with you. LOL, seriously, I go through it, but I'm never giving up, because Yah is GOOD! And the love and support He sends through many of you continue to refresh me.
Do you resonate with content like this? Do you want to join me in this journey of positivity and growth? If so, add your email here to the waitlist for when the club opens. I can't wait to see you there!
By the way, would you like to help the online club become a reality? There are still some expenses to cover to operate the platform, and get things up and running, and so if you are able to give toward this club project, please use this link. Thank you 😊
Let’s have a blessed day!

You are doing all the right things especially resting in Yah and continuing to trust! I’m so proud of you sis! ❤️
Wow Sis you are a diamond 💎!!! I appreciate your authenticity 💯 you already know what it is....the words you shared are very timely for me. Each day I am intentional in doing something that's moving my life forward mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically.
There are days that life gets real heavy for me and in those moments I am resting in Yah's Secret Place to get the spiritual healing and recovery that I so desperately need. This world can beat you up but Yah is Greater🙏🏽💕
One of my fav scriptures I have on my wall is 1 John 4:4 "Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world"
